Housing Plus Group is celebrating after being shortlisted in two categories at the prestigious Inside Housing Development Awards 2026.
Our Battlefield Road development in Shrewsbury has been shortlisted for Best Development, while our partnership with Lovell Partnerships and Telford & Wrekin Council has been shortlisted for Best Partnership for its work regenerating Wellington.
The £16.9 million Battlefield Road development, delivered alongside Morro Partnerships, Shropshire Council and Homes England, has delivered 98 affordable homes for local people. The development includes a mix of houses, apartments and bungalows available at affordable and social rent, as well as homes that help people take their first steps towards home ownership. Twelve homes have been specially adapted to meet residents’ needs, supported by £1 million of funding from Shropshire Council.
The development also features green spaces, a children’s play area and sustainability measures such as solar panels and biodiversity improvements.
Alongside providing much-needed homes, the project has created jobs and apprenticeships and opportunities for local people, while supporting community initiatives across the area.
The Best Partnership shortlist recognises the success of Housing Plus Group’s work with Lovell Partnerships and Telford & Wrekin Council through the New College and Glebe Street developments in Wellington.
Together, the developments have delivered affordable homes, accommodation for older people and major investment in local communities, while transforming key sites and creating jobs, training opportunities and wider social value.
Wayne Gethings, Group Chief Executive at Housing Plus Group, said: “We are incredibly proud to be shortlisted in two categories at these prestigious national awards.
“These projects demonstrate what can be achieved when strong partners come together with a shared commitment to providing high-quality affordable homes, supporting thriving communities and creating places people are proud to call home.
“Being recognised on a national stage is a fantastic achievement and a testament to everyone involved.”
Tom Broadway, Managing Director at Morro in the West Midlands, said: “We are delighted that Battlefield Road has been shortlisted for Best Development at the Inside Housing Development Awards. It is a fantastic recognition of the hard work and commitment shown by everyone involved.
“Working closely with Housing Plus Group, Shropshire Council and Homes England, we have delivered affordable homes that are making a real difference to people’s lives in Shrewsbury. The development has provided homes designed around residents’ needs. It has also created jobs, apprenticeships and lasting opportunities for the local community.
“Battlefield Road shows what strong partnership working can achieve.”
Chantel Cresswell, Head of Partnerships at Lovell in the West Midlands, said: “Our work at the New College and Glebe Street developments in partnership with Housing Plus Group and Telford & Wrekin Council is clear evidence of our dedication and creating lasting communities in the West Midlands. The shortlist in itself is an incredible achievement and marks an exciting milestone in our lasting partnership which we’re looking forward to building on even further.”
The winners will be announced at the Inside Housing Development Awards ceremony on Tuesday 24 November in London.
