Electric vehicle charging points

Installing an electric vehicle charging point

Homes Plus is committed to helping our customers reduce their carbon footprint.

If you are thinking about purchasing an electric car, we recommend that you get permission to install an electric vehicle (EV) charging point from us first before ordering your vehicle.

You must have our permission to install an EV charging point, before installation takes place.

You can apply for permission using the form below. Please allow a minimum of eight weeks for written permission.

Request to carry out alterations form

Please remember the following:

  • You must have a designated, private off street parking space at your home with a dropped kerb. We will not give permission if you do not have a private parking space. For more information about applying and paying for a dropped kerb visit the Staffordshire County Council website and Shropshire Council website. We do not allow vehicle charging on communal car parks, unless a publicly available charging socket is fitted.
  • You will need to pay for the installation of the EV charger yourself. You may be able to use the government’s EV Chargepoint Grant to help pay for this.
  • The installation must be completed by a competent Part P approved electrician who is registered with NICEIC / ELECSA and you must provide us with their certification for us to review and approve.
  • Charging cables must not be trailed across pavements and highways and must not be left overnight.
  • We recommend that you also have in place home contents insurance. Your personal belongings would be insured if there was a fire or other accidental damage caused by your EV charger if you have contents insurance. It could cost just a few pounds a week and bring you peace of mind.
